OnBoard Login Timeout Rules for Web and Mobile Apps

This article explains how long you can stay signed in to OnBoard before being automatically logged out. Timeout behavior depends on whether you are using the Web App or the Mobile/Tablet App (iOS or Android) and how actively you are using OnBoard.

Web App Login Timeout Behavior

When Will I Be Fully Logged Out of OnBoard on the Web?

You will be fully logged out of OnBoard in a web browser when any of the following occur:
  • When you manually log out
  • After 3 hours of inactivity while OnBoard is open

Consider the following:

  • “Inactivity” means no mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, or keyboard input within the OnBoard tab.
  • When multiple OnBoard tabs or windows are open:
    • The inactivity timer continues to run
    • 3 hours of inactivity in any OnBoard tab will log you out
    • Logging out in one tab logs you out of all OnBoard tabs

Redirection to the Organization Selection Page

When Will I Stay Logged in But Be Redirected to the Organization Selection Page?

You will remain logged in, but OnBoard will redirect you to the organization selection page when any of the following happen:

  • After 1 hour when:
    • OnBoard is open in an inactive browser tab
  • When:
    • The OnBoard browser tab is closed, but the browser window remains open
  • When:
    • All browser windows are closed
This behavior helps protect sensitive board materials while allowing quick re‑entry without re‑authentication.

Mobile/Tablet App Login Timeout Behavior

What does “Trust This Device” mean?

After signing in to the OnBoard Mobile App, you will be asked whether you want to“Trust This Device.” This choice controls how long you remain signed in during periods of inactivity.

“Inactivity” on mobile means:
  • Locking your device
  • Minimizing the app
  • Closing the app

What Happens if I Trust the Device?

If you choose to Trust This Device:
  • You can remain signed in for up to 120 days of inactivity
  • This is commonly referred to as a 120‑day timeout
This option is recommended for personal or secure devices.

What Happens if I Do Not Trust the Device?

If you choose not to trust the device:
  • You will remain signed in for up to 60 minutes of inactivity
  • This is commonly referred to as a 60‑minute timeout
This option is recommended for shared or public devices.

Can I Be Logged Out of the Mobile App Manually or Remotely?

Yes. Mobile users may be signed out when:
  • You manually sign out
  • A Remote Wipe is performed by an administrator
  • An Idle Wipe is triggered
  • The OnBoard app is deleted from the device
