OnBoard Messenger lets you send secure, instant messages to anyone in your organization, whether you're using a laptop, iPhone/iPad (iOS), or Android device. Messages sync across all platforms, so you can stay connected anywhere you access OnBoard. It's easy!

How Do I Access Messenger?
To send and receive messages, open Messenger directly from the main navigation menu in OnBoard.
Steps
- Open OnBoard on any supported device.
- Click or tap the Messenger icon in the main navigation.
- Your conversation list will appear. Select an existing thread or create a new one.
How Do I Create a New Message?
- Click Compose at the top of your Messages panel.
- Select recipients:
- A single user
- Multiple users
- An entire group
Click Start Conversation. (anyone selected as a recipient will be able to see your conversation thread and respond to it instantly)
- Type your message in the text bar.
- Click SEND.
If recipients have OnBoard open, they’ll hear a notification sound. All recipients will also see an Unread Message badge in the left navigation.
How Does Messaging Work on Phones & Tablets?
The process is almost the same as the web version but with additional mobile‑friendly features. Simply open the OnBoard mobile app and access Messenger from the navigation menu.
How Do I Send Messages from Different Areas in OnBoard?
From a Member Profile
- Open the user’s profile.
- Click the Messenger icon to start a direct message.
From a Group
- Go to the group page.
- Click the Messenger icon to open a group message thread.
From a Meeting
- Open your meeting book.
- Select the Messenger icon under the agenda to message meeting participants.
How Do I Add Message Attachments (Web & Mobile)?
You can share files in Messenger on both web and mobile apps.
Steps to Attach Files
- Click Attach in the message bar.
OnBoard now allows you to share and view files directly from Messenger on both the web version of OnBoard, as well as our free mobile apps on phone and tablet!
Download OnBoard on iOS from the App Store or Android from the Google Play Store.
To add files to a message, click the Attach button.
- Drag‑and‑drop a file OR select a file from:
- Your computer
- OnBoard Resources
- Click Attach to confirm.
- Add optional text in the message bar.
- Click Submit to send.
Recipients can click the file to open it.
Downloads are available if enabled by your organization.
On the phone or tablet app, you can use the share button to download, print, or share the document from your device.
Tips & Extras in Messages
- New Line: Press Shift + Enter to add a line break without sending.

Emojis:
- Windows: Right‑click → Emojis OR Win + .
- MacOS: Control + Command + Space
- Mobile: Use the device’s built‑in emoji keyboard.
Emoji appearance is consistent across devices.
How Will I Be Notified Of Incoming Messages?
OnBoard notifies you when you have unread messages.
In‑App (Web, iOS, Android)
- A red badge appears next to Messenger.
Email Notifications
- Sent 15 minutes after your first unread message.
- If still unread, another email sends after 4 hours.
- If new messages arrive, notifications send 4 hours after the new messages.
Mobile Push Notifications
- iOS and Android apps send immediate push alerts.
How Do I Change the Name of a Conversation?
You can rename conversations to make them easier to identify.
Steps
- Open the conversation.
- Send at least one message (conversation details appear only afterward).
- Click Conversation Details (top right exclamation mark icon).
- Enter a new conversation name.
- Click Save Changes.
All participants will see the updated name.

Can I message more than one person at once?
- Yes. You can message multiple users or entire groups.
Do recipients see my message instantly?
- Yes. Anyone included in the conversation can view and respond right away.
Does Messenger work the same on mobile apps?
- Almost. The process is similar, but mobile apps offer more device‑specific options for sharing files and emojis.
Can I download attachments?
- Yes, if your organization allows downloads.
How do I know if I have unread messages?
