How to Create an OnBoard Desktop App/Shortcut

If you'd like to access OnBoard quickly when using a desktop, laptop, or Microsoft Surface device, you can create a desktop app/shortcut.

Review the instructions below to see how to create a desktop app/shortcut across a variety of different web browsers.

Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge

To install the OnBoard site as a desktop app on Microsoft Edge, first open the Microsoft Edge browser and navigate to the OnBoard sign in page:
https://app.onboardmeetings.com

When viewing the sign in page, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the three-dotted settings menu at the top right of the web browser
  2. Select Apps from the drop down menu
  3. Select Install This Site as an App

Once installed, you will need to name the app and select Install.

Chrome

To install the  OnBoard site as a desktop app on Chrome, first open the Chrome browser and navigate to the OnBoard sign in page:

https://app.onboardmeetings.com

Select the three-dotted menu on the top right of the browser. Then select Cast, Save, and Share and select Install Page as App...

Enter a name for the shortcut and select Install.

Firefox

To create a desktop shortcut on Firefox, first open the Firefox browser and navigate to the OnBoard sign in page:

https://app.onboardmeetings.com

Resize the Firefox window so you can see both your computer's desktop and the Firefox window on the same screen. Click on the padlock icon on the left of the address bar and drag and drop the padlock/URL to the desktop. This will create the shortcut.

Pinning App to Taskbar - Windows

Once the site has installed as an app on a Windows computer, it will prompt you to choose the following options:

  • Pin to taskbar
  • Pint to start
  • Create Desktop shortcut
  • Auto-start on device login

Check the appropriate boxes to customize how you'd like to access and launch the app shortcut.

You will need to confirm that you'd like to pin app to the taskbar.

You can pin to the start menu or taskbar at a later time by selecting the Start icon and right clicking the app.

To update the app icon, take the following steps:

  1. Right click the app/shortcut
  2. Select Properties
  3. In the Shortcut menu select Change Icon 
  4. Upload a .ico or .bmp file from your computer to update the icon

Adding App to Dock - Mac

After naming and installing the Finder will open with the installed app. 

To change the image of the app, right click on the app in the Finder and select Get Info.

Open a new finder window and locate the OnBoard Meetings logo image. On the info pop up, drag and drop the OnBoard logo* to the icon on the top left of the pane.

*Download the OnBoard logo at the bottom of this article.

To add the app to your dock, drag and drop the app from the finder to your dock.

After opening the app, right click on it in your dock, select Options, and ensure Keep in Dock is checked so it remains in your dock.
